Case overview
Shakur was travelling with Death Row Records co-founder Marion “Suge” Knight after attending a boxing match when another vehicle pulled alongside their car and a gunman opened fire. Shakur was taken to hospital and died on 13 September 1996 at age 25. [1]
Las Vegas police arrested Duane “Keffe D” Davis in September 2023 after a renewed investigation. Prosecutors argued that Davis obtained the gun and directed the attack; the defense disputed the reliability of his earlier public accounts. A jury convicted Davis of first-degree murder on 31 August 2026, and sentencing was scheduled for October. [2]
