Case overview
Between 1978 and 1991, Jeffrey Dahmer murdered seventeen men and boys in Ohio and Wisconsin. Police arrested him in Milwaukee in July 1991 after one intended victim escaped and alerted officers. Dahmer was arrested in 1991 after an intended victim escaped from his apartment. [1]
Although diagnosed with borderline personality disorder (BPD), schizotypal personality disorder (StPD), and a psychotic disorder, he was declared legally sane at his trial. Scarver was adamant he had not planned the attacks in advance, although he later divulged to investigators he had concealed the 20-inch iron bar used to kill both men in his clothing shortly before the killings. On November 28, 1994, Dahmer was beaten to death by Christopher Scarver, a fellow inmate at the Columbia Correctional Institution in Portage, Wisconsin. [2]
